Eating around a kitchen renovation!

Kitchen renovations are usually filled with visions of fresh new cabinets, gleaming new appliances and years of preparing gourmet meals for friends and family.

What is usually left out of the picture is weeks or months of eating out at the local dinner during the project. Not only can this increase your waist - it can price a kitchen renovation out of reach of most families. With a bit of advanced planning however, this does not need to be th case.

Look at the adjoining rooms to find some space for a temporary kitchen. If your current appliances are too large then go out and get some cheap smaller appliances to last the duration of the renovation. An apartment sized fridge for example may be a perfect addition to your rec room when you done the kitchen.

A convection microwave will also be a central part of your temporary kitchen. After a few weeks of experimenting you will be an expert chef with the microwave!

A toaster oven will also prepare much more then just toast. You can cook pizzas, chicken and more. You can even bake bread in it if you are so inclined!

Often packed away and forgotten about during a renovation project is the slow cooker or crock pot. Slow cookers can sit in the corner of any room and simmer away a stew or soup.

A BBQ is also a must when renovating your kitchen. In most any weather you can grill the majority of you meals. Get creative and get more then just hamburgers and hot dogs on the BBQ. Today you can get utensils just as woks and pizza plates that you can use on the BBQ.

Any home renovation can be stressful. Kitchen renovations can be the most stressful because the kitchen really is the heart of the home. Minimized this stress and frustration and you will be much more satisfied with your kitchen renovation.
