Many people don’t take their appliance shopping very serious. They see a dishwasher or microwave and they think, “Hey, I can afford that,” or “Hey, that’s a good deal!” But, if you stop to think about it, why are they selling these appliances so cheap?
The reason is simple – you get what you pay for. It’s true and it’s a fact of life. In fact, many companies purposefully make their appliances cheap so that consumers will keep spending money on appliance repairs, replacement parts or a whole new product. This is they way that they make money.
When it comes to a kitchen remodel or appliance replacement, you are much better off doing it right the first time. This means that you need to spend a little extra money and get an appliance that is going to last instead of one that is going to need repairs or replacement six months down the road. In addition to these inconveniences, you are going to experience even more problems when it comes time to call the company and deal with customer service. Many customer service representatives and the companies in general have little or no product knowledge. They have no idea how they work, what they do or much less how to install there own products. When it comes to repairs, you are going to have even more problems. Many consumers decide it is not worth the headache to repair the appliance and simply go purchase a new one.
Additionally, there are thousands of new and unknown brand names that hit the shelves every year. When it comes time to go shopping for appliances, these are often the cheapest. These brands are so cheap because specialized companies do not produce them, but they are purchased from various other manufacturers and then a label with a brand is slapped on the front of them. But, most consumers are not aware of this fact.
When it comes to performance, consumers are even more disappointed by their cheap kitchen appliances. The dishwasher may not heat up to the necessary temperature to dissolve caked on food particles. The soap may not have time to dissolve and will stick to glasses. Other cheap appliances are noisy, and are designed to not last more than one month past the warranty. Appliances are similar to cars and should be purchased as such. They are not all equal and it takes research to find out whether or not you are getting a good deal or just getting yourself in a ring of constant appliance replacement.
